Nishine Lure Works Erie 152MD Suspending Jerkbait

After four years of meticulous research and testing, master lure designer Hiroshi Nishine has accomplished something truly special with the new Erie 152MD—a giant, oversized jerkbait that is every bit as nimble and responsive as its regular-sized brethren.

The Erie 152MD weighs 1.8 oz, measures 6 inches in length, and has tall, flat sides that mimic a range of larger forage in both fresh and saltwater. For our toothy flatfish, it is a dead ringer for snapper blues and late-season mullet. Beyond its beefy profile and meticulous build quality, its action almost defies physics: rather than functioning as just a "pull bait" like every other oversized jerkbait on the market, the Erie 152MD darts, rolls, and quivers with the slightest rod tip input.

A bait this size has no business being that light on its feet. For the first time, a giant jerkbait can be fished exactly like a regular jerkbait and trigger strikes from reluctant fish in exactly the same way.

Note: 

The Erie 152MD comes with Nishine Original Outer Weights on the front hook hanger, which can be tuned for fishing different levels of the water column. For fluke/flounder fishing from shore, I recommend removing the Outer Weights entirely. You can also downsize the stock 1/0 trebles to #1 trebles, and the stock #6 split ring to #4 or #5 rings to increase the bait's buoyancy. 

The Erie 152MD is designed to accommodate heavy leaders (up to 130 lbs) and wire leaders without sacrificing balance or action. This is a perfectly viable plug for striped bass on conventional surf and boat gear.
